Readapted for its new vocation, Aberdeen Cultural Centre houses organizations dedicated to artistic, cultural and educational endeavours. Indeed, the Centre’s old brick walls are home to a mix of organizations and artists representing an extensive range of artistic expression: painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography, installation, performing and media arts, animation, video, film, dance, literary expression, crafts and ceramics. Jean-Denis Boudreau

Artist statement

The notion of Art today can seem increasingly detached from society, catering to the exclusive few, teetering on the abstruse. Jean-Denis Boudreau tackles such notions in his belief that art should be for everyone. Boudreau’s handiwork possesses a bright sense of humour, which proves itself playful yet subversive. What sets him apart from his peers as well as the majority of contemporary artists is Boudreau’s ability to hit the pavement to convey his message and deliver art to the mass public. His work weaves itself into the fabric of society, patching its holes with humour and sarcasm. Paradigms and social behaviours are chopped up, de-boned and skinned, then condensed into packages ready for mass consumption.
